County Turf’s Sports Greenscape pitches up in Denmark
North Lincolnshire-based County Turf battled sub-zero temperatures in the UK and Denmark to deliver a new pitch to FC Copenhagen’s ground – The Parken Stadium – also Denmark’s National Stadium.
County Turf supplied its Sports Greenscape turf for the new pitch in 1250mm wide rolls weighing 1200kg each.
Frost covers were used prior to the turf being harvested to keep it frost and snow free so Parken’s deadline could definitely be met, whatever the weather.
The specialist turf made its journey from Scunthorpe via Immingham to Esjberg by boat and then on by road in 22 articulated lorries taking 20 hours. However, 30 kilometers from Copenhagen, the lorries had to be held in heated warehouses to prevent the turf freezing in Denmark’s minus 10 degree temperatures.
Just two days after the successful overnight installation of the pitch, Parken Stadium hosted the UEFA cup tie of FC Copenhagen versus Manchester City Football Club.
