County Turf Launches New Grade of Rhizomatous Turf

Leading turf producer, County Turf, now offers RTF turf, a resilient, hardwearing turf produced from specialist seed bred by Barenbrug Research.

Rhizomatous Tall Fescue (RTF) is a new generation of tall fescue that produces rhizomes, an underground stem that grows outwards from the main plant, producing more shoots as it grows.

RTF performs well in drought, withstands waterlogging, is shade and salt tolerant, and is incredibly hardwearing, making it suitable for a wide variety of uses including at coastal sites.

RTF was awarded the prestigious Waterwise Marque which verifies that it needs far less water that conventional cool season grasses.

Early feedback suggests that RTF will be a popular turf grade for a variety of projects.

County Turf is a family-run company that grows more than 1,300 acres of high-quality turf for sports, amenity and landscaping purposes at its site near Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire.

It is a member of Turf Producers International and the Turfgrass Growers Association, supplying TGA Certified turf grown to its stringent criteria.

The company’s turf is available throughout the UK from a network of distributors.
